Great Decisions - Prepare to Discuss the World!

Make Your Reservation Now!

Great Decisions is America's largest discussion program on world affairs.  The program model involves reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book, watching the DVD and participating in eight or more Discussion Group meetings to discuss the most critical global issues facing America today. Each year, eight topics are chosen by a panel of experts from among these issues.

The Military Heritage Museum is forming a “Great Decisions” group, affiliated with  the Foreign Policy Association (FPA), to discuss these and other foreign policy challenges facing the US. Weekly, small group meetings will start in mid-January 2021 at the Museum. If you are interested, the registration site is now open for you to reserve a spot!

The first "Great Decisions" group was launched in Portland, Oregon in 1954 by the Foreign Policy Association. Participants read a fact sheet on each of the eight topics before meetings, where they discuss their respective views and opinions.  FPA tallies opinion ballots and report the results to the Department of State.

The grassroots, face-to-face model adopted by Great Decisions more than 50 years ago continues today, with tens of thousands of participants taking part in discussions nationwide annually. Taking place in the Gulf Theater, the Military Heritage Museum will launch and host a Great Discussion group starting in mid-January of 2021.

2021 Proposed Discussion Topics Include:

1. COVID-19 International Response

2. Economic Impact of Coronavirus

3. China in Africa

4. Korean Peninsula

5. Persian Gulf Security

6. Brexit and the EU

7. The Race for the Arctic

8. The End of Globalization
